FAQ

Can I attend your conference if I don't write romance?
Absolutely! Even if you don't write romance, you'll find plenty of workshops to keep you busy! For a full lineup of our workshops, please visit the Masterclasses and Workshops page on our website.

What do you mean by a "hybrid" conference?
Spring Fling 2026 will take place at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in downtown Chicago. If you cannot attend in person, you can sign up for the virtual (online) event. All of the workshops, speeches, etc. will be streamed live. Both people physically attending the conference and those attending online-only will have access to the online streamed workshops. The workshops will be recorded, so you can access them for up to two months after the conference.

Can I register the day of the conference?
We do not take in-person registrations onsite. In-person attendance registration on the website will close in mid-Spring.  The virtual attendance only option will be available right up until the conference opens.

I volunteered! When will I find out my volunteer assignment?
Thank you for volunteering. We can’t run the conference without our volunteers! We will email your assignment and responsibilities in mid to late March.

I signed up to pitch. Am I guaranteed a pitch appointment? How many pitch appointments do I get?

Our goal is to give ONE pitch appointment to everyone who wants one, but we cannot guarantee everyone an appointment. Pitches are assigned in the order we receive registration and payment.

When will the workshop schedule be posted?

We will upload the list of workshops to both the Accelevents platform and our website, updating as needed. We expect to finalize the schedule with times and dates by the end of March, at which time we will post it on our website and upload it to the Accelevents platform.

Do I have to register for the conference to attend the book signing?

Yes, if you would like to be a signing author at the book signing.

Our book signing event is free and open to the public to attend as a reader. Books may be purchased onsite from your favorite authors or attendees may bring their own copies to be signed. A volunteer will tag your personal books prior to your entrance into the book signing to distinguish them from onsite purchases.

Can I bring promotional items to be distributed at the book signing?

Yes. We will have a swag table available near the book signing room. All are welcome to distribute promotional items. If you would like swag items included in the attendee gift bags, please use this form.

What should I wear to the gala dinner?

The Gala Dinner on Saturday night is semi-formal. A nice dress or slacks would be appropriate. However, we’re still entertaining ideas for fun themes for our Gala, so who knows? You might get to dress up in costume. We will share information in plenty of time for attendees to participate if we do something specific.

I registered for Spring Fling but something came up. How do I cancel my registration?

Please e-mail the Chicago-North treasurer as soon as possible at treasurer@chicagonorthromancewriters.com if you need to cancel. Note that cancellations are subject to a $50 fee before April 1, 2026. After that date, we will not be able to issue refunds. Hardship cases will be determined and settled on an individual basis.

Please note: CNRW is not liable for changes in workshops, speakers, or conference dates due to unforeseen circumstances.
